Fonsagrada
The county of A Fonsagrada in Galicia was declared a natural reserve of the biosphere by UNESCO. It is located in picturesque mountain spot at the eastern end of the province of Lugo, bordering the Asturian counties of Los Oscos and Ibias. It is located 59 km from Lugo and about 69 from the beach resort of Ribadeo and the ‘Playa de las Catedrales’.
It is a charming little town with friendly and welcoming atmosphere. There are numerous bars serving good Spanish local wines and tapas. There is choice of restaurants offering variety of local and seasonal menu and it is the place to try the famous Galician octopus.
Fonsagrada and the area is ideal for sports such as hunting and fishing, hiking trails, mountain climbing, cycling, 4x4 routes, horse riding and other mountain related sports and activities. There are many walking paths in the mountains to explore the area, and collect mushrooms and chestnuts in the autumn.
